SEYMOUR-SCREEN EXCELLENCE INTRODUCES THE ABSOLUTE ACOUSTICALLY TRANSPARENT FILM SCREEN

Full-Closing A.T. Motorized Lateral Masking Provides Variable Aspect Ratio with Constant Height; ISF-Certified A.T. 4K Surface and Infinite Black™ True Velvet Material Borders

Indianapolis, IN – At CEDIA 2012 Expo, Seymour-Screen Excellence (booth #1439) will debut The Absolute - a curved fixed-frame acoustically transparent film-screen that features a full-closing, motorized lateral masking system.

The Absolute is the first on the market to offer a motorized lateral masking system that returns to a fully-closed position. The masking system can be programmed to stop at any aspect ratio from 1.33:1 to 2.37:1. So as to not compromise sound, both the screen and the masking layers are acoustically transparent.

The Absolute is available with either S-SE’s ISF-certified .98 gain Enlightor 4K or 1.1 gain Enlightor 2 acoustically transparent screen surface. The 4K material is a woven fabric that makes possible placement of the screen over in-wall loudspeakers (as close as desired) without creating a frequency or phase acoustic effect. The 4K material is the only AT screen that has no visible features indicating that it is acoustically transparent, and therefore has no minimum seating distance. Both Enlightor materials are free of the historical limitations of moiré or needing EQ compensation.

The Absolute’s 3.7-inch wide borders are comprised of the company’s Infinite Black™ true velvet material which absorbs 99.7% of projected light making for the sharpest border and over-scan absorption available today. “The masking mechanics are located behind the frame so the bezel depth does not get too thick like other masking screens on the market,” says S-SE managing director Chris Seymour.

The Absolute is available in image widths ranging from 70-inches wide (76-inch diag.) to 170-inches wide (184.5-inch diag.). Featured is a full-perimeter groove tensioning system that locks the screen with a perfectly continuous support. Pricing starts at $12,500 (MSRP).

S.E.A.L. Solutions -- a Long Island, NY design and installation company with a discerning clientele that includes Hollywood actors, recording artists and professional athletes -- installed a 110-inch wide (119.4-inches diag.) Absolute in its Theo Kalomirakis-designed home theater demonstration room, where it is paired with a Runco Q-750i LED DLP video projector.

Of The Absolute’s performance, S.E.A.L. CEO Chris Wyllie says, “I chose Seymour-Screen Excellence because I found the Enlightor 4K surface provides a bright, clear picture. This is extremely important to me as I’ve never been fully satisfied with even the most expensive vinyl-perforated designs available today.”
