TRIAD SPEAKERS REPOSITIONS FOR NEXT DECADE BY LOWERING PRICING WHILE SIMULTANEOUSLY IMPROVING QUALITY AND DEVELOPING NEW TECHNOLOGIES
Portland, OR – According to Paul Scarpelli, Director of Sales and Marketing for custom loudspeaker manufacturer Triad Speakers, the economic downturn in the economy forced company management to scrutinize its materials costs and refocus its product development initiatives, as well as more fully embrace the lean techniques it has used for years. The net result, says Scarpelli, is that Triad is more competitive than ever – realigned for success well into the next decade. Triad faced a challenge: while manufacturing in America is more costly, the company’s dedication to build-to-order products (in almost any shape or color) mandates that it continue to build speakers in the US. To this, its engineering, product development, purchasing, and production departments went through re-evaluations. All responded by improving the build process and with greater efficiency. The company also aggressively negotiated and in some cases, changed its vendors to provide the best parts at the lowest cost. The best example of vendor change is its move to Indonesia-based SB Acoustics as its source for most drivers. According to Scarpelli, SB Acoustics and Triad developed drivers that surpassed those previously sourced elsewhere by Triad, and at a much better value with respect to performance and pricing. “This move has enabled Triad to reduce its pricing by as much as 20%,” says Scarpelli. Triad’s product development team has created an exciting new technology called FlexSub that completely hides subwoofer enclosures in ceilings, closets, basements and cabinets. The system is comprised of an amplifier and sub enclosure that can be mounted in a crawl space, attic or cabinet. The sound is directed through a short flexible tube that feeds into the room, without the look of a large cabinet or grill on the wall. Two models are available: a Mini FlexSub and a Silver FlexSub. Pricing to be determined. At the 2010 CEDIA Expo, Triad is unveiling its first “frameless” in-ceiling distributed audio speakers; the grills are attached by magnets and cover the entire front of the speaker. Available are 4 sealed (SealedRound) and 4 open back (OpenRound) versions - each optimized for its specific acoustic environment. Also new from Triad is the MicroSat 3.0 which at $600 MSRP is the company’s most cost-effective on-wall three-in-one LCR to date. “The current full line of Triad products simply represents the best value Triad has offered our dealers and homeowner in our history,” says Scarpelli.
